Cassian Jeron Andor was a Rebel intelligence officer, spy, and pilot who became one of the most important operatives of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Born as a boy named Kassa on the remote, mining-scarred world of Kenari, he was orphaned as a child and taken to the industrial planet Ferrix, where he was raised by Clem and Maarva Andor and grew into a cynical scavenger and thief. Recruited by the rebel spymaster Luthen Rael, Cassian was radicalized through the Aldhani garrison heist, a brutal wrongful imprisonment on Narkina 5, and the Imperial atrocities he witnessed — including the massacre on Ghorman — transforming from a disillusioned criminal into a committed and ruthless rebel agent operating under the codename Fulcrum and numerous cover identities. He is best known for leading the Rogue One team that infiltrated the Imperial data vault on Scarif to steal the Death Star plans, an act that gave the Rebellion its first true chance to destroy the battle station. Cassian was killed in the Death Star's bombardment of Scarif, sacrificing his life alongside Jyn Erso to ensure the plans reached the Alliance.

Cassian is born on the isolated planet Kenari, where he lives among a tribe of children as a boy named Kassa.

After a Republic vessel crashes on Kenari, the young Kassa is taken in by salvagers Clem and Maarva Andor, who give him the name Cassian and a forged identity claiming Fest as his birthplace, raising him on the industrial world of Ferrix.
