Beru Whitesun Lars is best remembered as the warm, steady aunt who raised Luke Skywalker as her own son on a remote moisture farm. As a young woman she dreamed of opening a café in Anchorhead, helped locate and deprogram the tracking chips of freed slaves, and introduced Shmi Skywalker to Cliegg Lars, whose son Owen she later married. She served blue milk at Shmi's funeral during Anakin's visit on the eve of the Clone Wars. When Obi-Wan Kenobi brought the infant Luke to the homestead at the end of the war, Beru insisted they raise him. Over the next nineteen years she often took Luke's side against her overprotective husband. In 9 BBY she took up a blaster rifle to defend the farm from the Inquisitor Reva Sevander, holding her off long enough for Luke to escape. As Luke grew restless, Beru pressed Owen to let him leave for the Academy, reminding him that the boy had too much of his father in him. In 1 BBY the family bought the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO, and stormtroopers tracing the stolen Death Star plans killed Beru and Owen and burned their home. Their deaths pushed Luke to leave Tatooine with Kenobi, and he went on to destroy the Death Star.

Beru Whitesun grows up on Tatooine. A cooking instructor praises her blue-milk cheese, and she starts dreaming of opening her own café in Anchorhead.
Before 22 BBY - Meeting Shmi Skywalker
While getting her portable nav computer repaired at Watto's shop in Mos Espa, Beru meets Shmi Skywalker, who is enslaved there. She later introduces Shmi to Cliegg Lars, who frees and marries her.
Before 22 BBY - Working with the White Suns
Beru helps Shmi find and deprogram the chips in freed slaves using her scanner, and she supports others on Tatooine who work to free enslaved people.
Before 22 BBY - Courting Owen Lars
Beru falls in love with Cliegg's son, Owen Lars, and the two begin dating.
22 BBY - Anakin Comes to the Homestead
Tusken Raiders abduct Shmi. Beru is at the Lars farm when Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala arrive, and she serves blue milk and cheese at Shmi's funeral.
Between 22 and 19 BBY - Marriage to Owen
Beru marries Owen and takes the Lars name. After Cliegg dies, the couple struggles with infertility while trying to start a family.
19 BBY - Receiving Luke
At the end of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi brings the infant Luke Skywalker to the homestead. Beru declares that she and Owen will raise him as their own.
9 BBY - Watching Over Young Luke
Beru laughs when she finds a young Luke on the homestead roof pretending to podrace. From a distance, Kenobi watches the family.
9 BBY - Defending the Homestead from Reva
Beru refuses to abandon her home when the former Inquisitor Reva Sevander hunts for Luke. She arms herself and Owen with blaster rifles and holds Reva off long enough for Luke to flee. Afterward she sees Reva carry the boy back unharmed.
Between 9 and 2 BBY - Owen's Abduction
A year after the Great Drought, the bounty hunter Krrsantan seizes Owen over water taxes owed to Jabba the Hutt. Beru goes after her husband with a rifle and tells Luke to stay safe inside.
2 BBY - Kenobi's Distant Vigil
After his clash with Maul, Kenobi watches from afar as Beru calls a seventeen-year-old Luke home at sunset.
1 BBY - Arguing for Luke's Future
Beru persuades Owen to let Luke apply to the Academy after one more season. Over dinner she warns her husband that Luke is not a farmer and has too much of his father in him.
1 BBY - Death at the Homestead
Stormtroopers trace R2-D2 and C-3PO, who carry the stolen Death Star plans, to the Lars farm. They kill Beru and Owen and burn the homestead, and their deaths lead Luke to leave Tatooine with Kenobi.
0 ABY - Legacy
Luke finally grieves for his aunt and uncle after Nakari Kelen dies. Darth Vader and Doctor Aphra later visit the ruined homestead while tracking the pilot who destroyed the Death Star.
