Yoda

Yoda was born in 896 BBY and died in 4 ABY.

For more than eight centuries, Yoda shaped the Jedi Order. He was its long-serving Grand Master, a teacher of younglings and Padawans, and the Jedi who outlived the Order's fall long enough to hand its legacy to Luke Skywalker. He was already a Grand Master in the High Republic era. In 382 BBY he helped end the Night of Sorrow on Dalna, and afterwards he chose to keep what the Jedi had learned about the Nameless creatures out of the Archives. Nearly 150 years later he stepped away from the Council to teach aboard the Star Hopper and fought the Nihil at Trymant IV and beyond. His apprentices over the centuries included Kantam Sy and Dooku, who later became a Sith Lord. In the last days of the Republic he doubted that Anakin Skywalker should be trained, and he sensed that a hidden Sith Master was still at work. He brought the clone army to Geonosis and commanded Republic forces through the Clone Wars. During the war the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn taught him how to keep his identity after death. When Order 66 wiped out the Jedi, Yoda fought Darth Sidious in the Senate chamber, lost, and went into exile on Dagobah. Years later, after facing his own failures, he trained Luke Skywalker. He died of old age in 4 ABY and became one with the Force. Decades later he appeared to Luke on Ahch-To and helped his old student forgive himself.

Yoda is born. His species is ancient and mysterious, and he never reveals where he comes from.

~890s BBY - Youngling of the Jedi Order

Yoda joins the Order as a youngling. He finds his kyber crystal at the Gathering and builds his first lightsaber with Professor Huyang aboard the Crucible.

~880s BBY - Padawan years

He is paired with a Master younger than usual and travels to many worlds as a Padawan.

796 BBY - Becomes a Jedi Master

At about one hundred years old, Yoda begins the eight centuries he will spend training generations of Jedi.

~382 BBY - Grand Master of the High Republic

Yoda sits on the Jedi High Council and shares the title of Grand Master. He advises Chancellor Kyong Greylark during the crisis involving the Path of the Open Hand.

382 BBY - The Night of Sorrow

Yoda travels to Dalna with Greylark and joins the battle against the Path. With Yaddle, he rescues Gella Nattai and Axel Greylark from a collapsing sinkhole.

382 BBY - Keeping the Nameless secret

After the funeral for the fallen Jedi, Yoda and Creighton Sun agree to keep what they know about the Nameless creatures out of the Jedi Archives.

~230s BBY - Master of Kantam Sy

At the Endovar temple, Yoda lets his Padawan Kantam Sy leave the Order. When Sy returns, Yoda knights them so they can train Lula Talisola.

233 BBY - Assigning initiates

At the Grand Temple on Coruscant, Yoda sends younglings to outposts across the galaxy. He gives Kai Brightstar his own training saber.

232 BBY - Sabbatical aboard the Star Hopper

Yoda leaves the Council to teach Padawans aboard the Star Hopper and helps Avar Kriss's Force network during the Great Hyperspace Disaster.

232 BBY - Trymant IV

Yoda fights the Nihil during the Emergence at Trymant IV and finds a strange artifact aboard Marchion Ro's ship.

232 BBY - Starlight Beacon and the Nihil

Yoda attends the dedication of Starlight Beacon and takes Zeen Mrala in. He then hunts the Nihil, starting in the Bright Jewel system.

230 BBY - Return at Corellia

Yoda reappears after disappearing for more than a year. With Azlin Rell, he helps Kantam Sy and other Jedi fight the Nihil at the Corellian Shipyards.

~Late centuries BBY - Teacher of future Masters

Yoda trains Dooku and Cin Drallig as Padawans, and he also mentors Mace Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

32 BBY - The Chosen One

The Council turns down Qui-Gon Jinn's request to train Anakin Skywalker. After Qui-Gon dies on Naboo, the Council lets Anakin train anyway, over Yoda's objections, and Yoda senses that a Sith Master remains.

22 BBY - First Battle of Geonosis

Yoda brings the new clone army to Geonosis and rescues the surviving Jedi. He then duels Count Dooku, his former Padawan.

22–19 BBY - Clone Wars general

Yoda commands Republic forces and serves as a senior strategist throughout the war.

19 BBY - Lessons from Qui-Gon Jinn

Qui-Gon's spirit guides Yoda on a journey that teaches him how to keep his identity after death.

19 BBY - Order 66 and the duel with Sidious

Yoda survives the clone betrayal on Kashyyyk and faces Emperor Palpatine in the Senate chamber. He fails to defeat him.

19 BBY - Exile on Dagobah

Yoda helps hide the Skywalker twins and goes into hiding on Dagobah.

~2 BBY - Guiding Kanan and Ezra

From afar, Yoda speaks to Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger through the Force and guides them at the Lothal Jedi Temple.

1 BBY - Kenobi becomes one with the Force

After Obi-Wan's death, Yoda talks with his spirit. He faces his past in the Cave of Evil and agrees to train Luke.

3 ABY - Training Luke Skywalker

Yoda trains Luke on Dagobah until Luke leaves to rescue his friends at Cloud City.

4 ABY - Death on Dagobah

Weak with age, Yoda confirms that Vader is Luke's father and tells him about another Skywalker. He then dies and becomes one with the Force.

4 ABY - Spirit at Endor

Yoda's spirit appears with those of Obi-Wan and Anakin at the victory celebration.

34 ABY - Lesson on Ahch-To

Yoda appears to the exiled Luke, burns the ancient tree with lightning, and teaches him that failure is the greatest teacher.
