Obi-Wan Kenobi, also known in his later years as Ben Kenobi, was a legendary human Jedi Master born in 57 BBY on Stewjon and taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant as a Force-sensitive child. Trained as the Padawan of Qui-Gon Jinn, he rose to become a Jedi Knight and later a Jedi Master and member of the Jedi High Council. He is best known for training Anakin Skywalker, serving as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, and surviving Order 66 and the fall of the Republic. After Anakin's turn to the dark side as Darth Vader—whom Obi-Wan defeated on Mustafar—he went into exile on Tatooine to watch over the infant Luke Skywalker. Emerging years later to aid the Rebellion, he mentored Luke in the ways of the Force before sacrificing himself in a duel with Vader aboard the Death Star in 0 BBY, becoming one with the Force and continuing to guide Luke as a spectral presence.

During the crisis over Naboo, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon encounter Anakin Skywalker. After Qui-Gon is slain by Darth Maul, Obi-Wan defeats the Sith and, honoring his master's dying wish, pledges to train Anakin. He is knighted and takes Anakin as his Padawan.

Investigating an assassination attempt on Padmé Amidala, Obi-Wan discovers the clone army on Kamino and the Separatist plot on Geonosis. The Battle of Geonosis begins the Clone Wars, in which he serves as a Jedi General.

Now a Jedi Master and Council member, Obi-Wan leads clone troopers across countless campaigns alongside Anakin and Ahsoka Tano, becoming one of the war's most celebrated commanders.

Obi-Wan defeats General Grievous, then survives Order 66. After Anakin falls to the dark side and becomes Darth Vader, Obi-Wan defeats him in a duel on Mustafar, leaving him gravely wounded. He then delivers the newborn Luke Skywalker to the Lars family on Tatooine.

Living as the hermit "Ben" Kenobi, Obi-Wan watches over Luke from afar while remaining in hiding from the Empire.
