Luke Skywalker is the farm boy who became the galaxy's most famous Jedi, the hero whose single torpedo shot destroyed the first Death Star and whose faith in his father brought Darth Vader back to the light. Born in secret in 19 BBY to Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala and separated from his twin sister Leia at birth, he grew up on his aunt and uncle's moisture farm, watched from a distance by Obi-Wan Kenobi. When two droids carrying stolen Death Star plans came into his life, he lost his family to the Empire, joined the Rebel Alliance, and began training in the Force, first under Kenobi and then with Yoda on Dagobah. On Cloud City he lost his hand and learned that Vader was his father. At Endor he refused to kill him, and Anakin turned on the Emperor to save his son. After the war he searched the galaxy for lost Jedi knowledge, trained Leia, briefly taught the foundling Grogu, and founded a new academy. It ended in disaster when his nephew Ben Solo fell to the dark side and destroyed his temple. Consumed by guilt, Luke went into exile on Ahch-To until Rey found him. After giving her a reluctant final lesson, he projected himself across the galaxy to face Kylo Ren on Crait, bought the Resistance time to escape, and became one with the Force. As a spirit, he later urged Rey to confront the resurrected Palpatine.

Born minutes before his twin sister Leia, two days after the Empire is proclaimed. His dying mother Padmé names him before she dies.

19 BBY - Hidden on Tatooine

Obi-Wan Kenobi carries the infant to Owen and Beru Lars, who raise him on their moisture farm and keep his father's identity from him.

16 BBY - Marauders at the Homestead

At age three, Luke throws his toy starfighter to distract a Gamorrean raider while Kenobi and Owen fight off an attack on the farm.

9 BBY - Hunted by Reva

The former Inquisitor Reva Sevander tracks Luke to Tatooine and chases him into the desert, but she spares him. Afterward, Owen lets Kenobi meet the boy.

7 BBY - Lost in a Sandstorm

At twelve, Luke and his friend Windy are caught in a sandstorm in the desert. Kenobi rescues them and introduces himself as an old friend of Luke's father.

Luke repairs his grounded T-16 skyhopper and catches Owen in midair after the bounty hunter Krrsantan throws him from a cliff.

1 BBY - The Droids and the Message

Owen buys R2-D2 and C-3PO. Luke finds Princess Leia's plea for help and follows R2 to Ben Kenobi, who gives him his father's lightsaber.

1 BBY - Leaving Tatooine

Stormtroopers murder Owen and Beru. Luke leaves with Kenobi and hires Han Solo and Chewbacca in Mos Eisley.

Luke helps free Leia from the battle station and watches Kenobi fall to Darth Vader.

Luke helps the New Republic in its final campaigns against the Imperial holdouts, including self-proclaimed Grand Moff Adelhard.

Luke answers Grogu's call through the Force and destroys Moff Gideon's dark troopers aboard his cruiser.

While training Grogu at his new temple site, Luke hosts Ahsoka Tano. He lets the child choose, and Grogu goes back to Din Djarin instead of taking Yoda's lightsaber.

Luke, his apprentice and nephew Ben Solo, and Lor San Tekka search for Jedi lore and first encounter the Knights of Ren.

Troubled by dark visions, Luke searches for the Sith world. He faces wraiths on Tython with Anakin's spirit at his side, but the trail goes cold when he fails to track down the assassin Ochi.

28 ABY - Fall of the Jedi Temple

Luke briefly considers killing Ben Solo to stop the darkness he senses. Ben turns, destroys the temple, and kills his students.

28 ABY - Exile on Ahch-To

Convinced the Jedi should end, Luke hides on the first Jedi Temple's island and cuts himself off from the Force.

34 ABY - Rey Arrives

Rey brings Luke his old lightsaber. He reluctantly gives her three lessons, and Yoda's spirit helps him let go of his failure.

34 ABY - Battle of Crait and Death

Luke projects himself across the galaxy to face Kylo Ren, buys the Resistance time to escape, and becomes one with the Force on Ahch-To.

35 ABY - Spirit Counsel

Luke's spirit stops Rey from exiling herself and urges her to face Palpatine. He later watches over her on Tatooine.
