Breha Organa ruled Alderaan as its queen through the last years of the Republic and the rise of the Empire, and helped found the Rebel Alliance. As a teenager she nearly died during the Challenge of the Body on her Day of Demand. Her heart and lungs were replaced with pulmonodes, and she chose to leave them visible as a reminder that she had survived. Her injuries led her and her husband, Bail, to decide against having biological children. At the end of the Clone Wars they adopted the newborn daughter of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, raised her as Princess Leia, and never told her who her birth parents were. Breha was also Alderaan's minister of education. Under the Empire she mentored young Alderaanians in their world's heritage, took in refugees, and used palace banquets as cover for strategy meetings that helped unite scattered resistance cells into the Alliance. She oversaw Leia's Day of Demand and later admitted to her daughter that she and Bail were part of the rebellion. When an Inquisitor had Leia kidnapped to draw out Obi-Wan Kenobi, she lived through the fear of losing her. Breha died in 1 BBY, alongside Bail, when the Death Star destroyed Alderaan, and the galaxy remembered them as martyrs of the rebellion.

Born into the Elder Houses as heir to the Alderaanian throne and raised in the Royal Palace at Aldera. Canon gives no exact year.
~29 BBY - Day of Demand and the Accident
At sixteen she claims the throne through her Day of Demand. A fall during her Challenge of the Body nearly kills her. Her heart and lungs are replaced with pulmonodes, which she leaves visible, and she is invested as crown princess.
Between 40 and 28 BBY - Queen and Marriage
She takes the throne of Alderaan and marries Bail Prestor Organa. Because of her injuries, the couple decide to adopt an heir rather than conceive one.
28 BBY - Hosting Padmé Amidala
She invites Senator Padmé Amidala to Alderaan for a week. The two talk about motherhood, monarchy and Naboo's defenses.
22–19 BBY - Clone Wars Humanitarian Efforts
She sends doctors, teachers, builders and supplies to worlds devastated by the war. Alderaan hosts a conference to help war refugees.
19 BBY - Adoption of Leia
After Padmé's death, Bail brings the infant Leia home, and Breha takes her in as her daughter. Leia is presented as Princess of Alderaan on her Name Day, and her true parentage is kept secret.
~18–10 BBY - Raising the Princess and Mentoring Alderaanians
She raises Leia, tells her stories of Padmé Amidala, and teaches her orchid care, piloting and leadership. She also mentors young Alderaanians such as Evaan Verlaine in their world's heritage.
9 BBY - Leia's Kidnapping
Leia is abducted during a family visit on orders from the Third Sister, who wants to lure out Obi-Wan Kenobi. Breha and Bail ask Kenobi for help. After he rescues Leia, Breha thanks him on Alderaan.
3 BBY - Leia's Day of Demand
She presides over Leia's Day of Demand and gives her the Rhindon Sword. Meanwhile she hosts banquets that double as secret strategy meetings for the growing rebellion.
3 BBY - Refugees from Wobani
She welcomes the refugees Leia brings back from Wobani and gives each of them a stipend. Afterwards she scolds Leia for derailing Bail's relocation negotiations.
~3–2 BBY - Revealing the Rebellion to Leia
Once Leia uncovers her parents' rebel activity, Breha and Bail admit it but keep the details from her to protect her.
2 BBY - Founding of the Rebel Alliance
After Mon Mothma breaks with the Empire, the resistance networks that Breha and Bail helped build are formally united as the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
1 BBY - Death in the Destruction of Alderaan
Days after the Battle of Scarif, the Death Star destroys Alderaan, killing Breha and Bail.
